I met the love of my life, Morgan on Match.com back in 2008. Ten years later- we tied the knot! We knew that we wanted to get married at our home in West Boylston, MA.
Since we are an older couple, we wanted something intimate and relaxed; A Sunday Brunch Garden-Style Wedding. We invited 57 guests and didn’t have any wedding party.
Funny how the very first thing I bought was my dress! A Ralph Lauren dressy-casual ball gown at Macy’s. The lovely floral pattern on my dress was my inspiration piece for the whole theme of my wedding. I am in love with blue and white toile and delft blue. Nautical/Preppy/Martha Stewart meets Style Me Pretty. Relaxed Elegance.
Our wedding took place on Memorial Day weekend-sunny, warm and beautiful, right?! Well…it was 52 degrees, rainy and windy-Gee Wilkins! Everything was held underneath a Sailcloth Tent and our guests were freezing! What can one do? Lend out jackets, sweaters and umbrellas. All in all, it was a wonderful celebration.
I learned such an important lesson that I have been telling my Brides for years: please don’t take on too many DIY projects!! You will burn the candle at both ends! Try to keep things simple and designate duties-yes-ask politely and you shall receive.
Also, I would strongly recommend having your Groom purchase their own suit that can be worn indefinitely for special occasions-worth every penny!
